Having lean, strong, sexy legs is something 99% of women want (the other 1% are lying!!!) Gone (hopefully forever) is the skinny leg look that many women thought they wanted and in is the toned and defined sports model look. To achieve that is not impossible, no matter how fat your legs are right now BUT you need to change what you are doing now in order to get there. Today I am going to share with you a few things that you can do to get “them” legs!
Loose The Fluid
Loose the excess fluid that might be making your legs appear fatter. As much as your legs may seem fatter than ever before there is a good chance that a lot of this is actually excess fluid which is also known as water retention. There are many reasons why we store excess water – too much sugar, too much caffeine, too many grains and too many chemicals coming into the body from skincare products that are laced with tons of crap. All this coupled with high stress levels causes a serious hormonal imbalance.
You can see a dramatic drop in this excess fluid (water retention) rather quickly with a few simple steps. I recently wrote a 7 Day Detox Book which I am giving to you today to get you started. Healthy Eating Plan
Having a Food Plan that you can stick to long term – sure there will be times during the year when you can get REALLY strict, like before your holidays. But having a long term food plan that matches your goals is essential. You can train as hard as you want and do all the leg work I give you but if you won’t make the effort to make good food choices you won’t lean out your legs. Remember this ladies – You Cant Out Train a Bad Food Plan.
If you read my blogs regularly you will know that hitting a protein goal is of upmost importance, getting enough fibre, eating good healthy organic fats and drinking plenty of water will all help you lean out quickly. Planning and Preparing your meals is essential and I showed you in the last blog exactly how to do this.
Which Exercises ?
The best exercises for shaping the legs are big compound exercises like Squats, Lunges, Deadlifts, Good Mornings. We also add lying leg curls, leg press and leg extensions to compliment the main lifts above. There are some other lifts we use but the ones mentioned will provide you with enough to shape your upper legs!
Most gym goers tend to forget doing any calf work which is a big mistake as you want your legs to look good in your dress, right? There are many variations of calf exercises and it wont take long to see them becoming nicely defined and ready to proudly show them off! I always find from my experience that ladies do better with all over body training rather than just doing an upper body only or leg only day and a properly designed weight programme is essential to help build that lean sexy physique and lovely set of pins!
Cardio Training
The problem with cardio training is that most people do either too much or too little of it – if you can hit the middle ground you will go a long way to burning optimal amounts of bodyfat and lean out those legs. The type of cardio we do at ProFitness Ireland is generally sprint work although we do some steady state cardio work too – I believe our best clients have the correct balance between the two.
The weather is picking up now and the evenings are getting longer so you have no excuse not to go outside and do your sprint work. You can either do your sprints after a session or early morning as fasted cardio for EVEN MORE fat loss! I recently blogged about HIIT and you can read that article here.
