Inspirational Weight Loss Story

What are your reasons for going to the gym or hiring a personal trainer? This is a question I ask my clients and the reply is generally one of the following

                                              *to lose weight

                                             *to build muscle

                                              *to look better

*to improve some sort of injury or health problem

                                             *to improve sports performance

Most fall into one of the above. On Thursday last during a consultation with a client I asked her what her reasons for coming to see me, this turned out to be one of the most inspirational stories I have heard.
This lady went on to tell me that she wanted to lose weight(something said to me that this wasn’t your typical new years resolution). She explained that she needed to lose weight for her children as her husband has Huntington’s Disease which is a hereditary degenerative neurological illness for which there is no cure. The best way to describe it would be to say the symptoms combine Parkinson’s with alzheimers & motor neurone disease. In essence it affects the body physically, mentally & emotionally.

Her husband was diagnosed in late 2009 & is now no longer able to work or drive or even look after their children and with each passing month he becomes less able to look after himself.

During our chat she gave me a bit more insight and how she has watched him struggle with loosing a bit more of himself everyday. This made her realise that she needed to stop taking my own health for granted. “He would give anything to have his health back – he has no choice but I DO & so I decided at christmas that I owe it to him & to my kids to do something about it “.

She has tried various diets before but for the wrong reasons. “This is bigger than just me now & knowing that somehow makes it….not necessarily easier but possible!
I started on Jan 1st & have lost 18lbs I know I have a long long road ahead of me but I am prepared to work hard & I appreciate any support Pro-Fitness can give me “. We will do everything possible to help her reach her goals.

A truly inspiring reason for weight loss, we moan about the smallest problems in life so when the road gets hard or you dont feel like working out, eating properly etc just know that there are others out there with bigger problems than you.

Dont make excuses!
